MENORCA travel guide
Menorca is known for being a paradise island. Its crystal clear waters and tranquility make it the perfect spot for a relaxing summer holiday!
Cala Galdana
Where to stay
We stayed in Cala Galdana on our trip to Menorca because it is one of the most beautiful bays on the island and it is also walking distance to the spectacular virgin calas of Cala Macarella and Cala Macarelleta.
Recommended Hotels:
Melià Cala Galdana
Comitas Floramar
Artiem & Spa.
Getting around
1.‑ Rent a car (cheapest and highly recommended) is the easiest and most convenient way to get around the island.
2.‑ Book taxis (the most expensive but convenient if you want to drink ) expect prices to be around 45 euros each way (this was the price from Cala Galdana to Ciutadella).
Trevi restaurant
Where to eat
El mirador de cala Galdana: spectacular views and paella! 100% recommend this restaurant if you want to enjoy the most beautiful views of Cala Galdana while enjoying a delicious paella.
Cafe Balear: A classic! Perfect for dinner in Ciutadella! Delicious seafood.
Cape Nao: Melia hotel beach club. The food is not as delicious as in the other places, but it's a very cool place to enjoy drinks and lunch during the day.
Restaurante Trevi: Romantic restaurant in Cala Galdana to enjoy the most spectacular sea food.
Chiringuito Toni: Classic local chiringuito perfect to enjoy cocktails at the beach and typical menorcan food.
Pizzeria Don Giacomo: Delicious pizzeria in Ciutadella.
Es Cranc: Restaurant in Fornells, get a lobster dish.
Cala Macarella
What to do
Day Trip to The Virgin Calas (Macarelleta & Macarella):
From Cala Galdana, you can easily arrive at these beautiful calas by hiking for 35 min approx. In Cala Macarella you can go for the day and visit the two calas and you can stay for lunch in the only restaurant on the island.
Dinner & drinks in Ciutadella:
A nice way to spend your evening is to go to Ciutadella for dinner and bar hopping after. You can also buy menorquinas in Ciutadella (typical shoes from Menorca).
Rent a boat or do a Boat excursion:
In Cala Galdana, if you go near the beach you will see a lot of stands that offer boat excursions or boat rentals. I highly recommend this as it is a great way to move around the island and also to discover bays and calas that cannot be reached by foot.
Beach day in Cala Galdana:
This was one of my favorite plans for the trip! We rented beach beds all day and just chilled there with some cocktails we got from local chiringuitos... truly paradise.
